Registered Practical Nurse, Float Team, Part Time

THE OPPORTUNITY
GBGH is looking for experienced Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) interested in working within our Float Team. The purpose of the Float Department is to provide additional support to GBGH’s three inpatient departments: 2 East - Acute Medicine, 2 North - Medical/Surgical and 1 North - CCC/Palliative/Rehab.
As a RPN you will collaborate with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals to deliver outstanding patient care, addressing a diverse range of medical conditions with dedication and expertise. Focusing on holistic healing, you will strive to ensure the well-being and comfort of patients throughout their journey. This involves routine medical management and responding to emergent situations, while adhering to best practice guidelines. - Graduate of a recognized Registered Practical Nursing Program
- Registered Practical Nurse in good standing
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
- Completion of Coronary Care 1 Certificate an asset
- Completion of a Medication Administration Course an asset
- Meditech Expanse knowledge considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with all patients, physicians, staff, and visitors
- Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with patients, physicians, staff, and visitors
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development
- Willingness to participate in process improvement
- Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and families as well as other members of the healthcare team within a challenging and exciting health care environment
- Commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
- Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles
- Essential duties require ability to lift and move patients, pushing, pulling, bending & stooping

- As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position
- Hourly rate of pay $37.42 to $38.16, plus an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation to start
